An ancient message has been found which leads to a lost treasure!

summer science campHere are some the adventures your child will experience during the morning session:

Children decode hieroglyphics using their very own decoder wheel and then make their own name cartouche!

Using a chemical reaction, children will test water samples sent back from Egypt to find the difference between acids and bases. They then get to take home their own color indicator strips to test items at home, and also their very own boom bag!

Riddle me this: which sand will bubble when mixed with an acid? These are questions children will answer to determine the next clue to the treasure.

The Egyptians invented telling time and your child will be an expert night or day! Using either their glow-in-the-dark star clock or their wrist sundial, they’ll always know what time it is.

Children become archeologists by digging out their own mummy from the sand using real tools of the trade. They then will mummify a small plastic skeleton and participate in a mummy race.

Finally children will decode the last message and find the pyramid and bring home actual gold!

Here are some the adventures your child will experience during the afternoon session:

Solve the next mystery and unlock the lair of the Sphinx using the 3 stone keys. Children learn about igneous, or fire formed rocks, and erupt their own volcanoes.

Children learn about sedimentary rocks, which are formed in water environments. They examine samples of various sedimentary rocks to send a message to help locate the 2nd stone key.

Children create their own metamorphic rock using Model Magic to show how they are created under extreme heat or pressure.

Children dig through a block and unearth various minerals that very common in ancient Egypt. They also grow a crystal garden!

In the busy markets of ancient Egypt, mini teeter-totters were used to weigh produce. Campers then build their own catapults using this ancient knowledge!

Children become architects and study the tools used to build the pyramids. They also construct a pyramid hat, an ancient Egyptian Level, and built a mini pyramid of their own!

Each day ends with an exciting game that reinforces scientific concepts and promotes teambuilding. These activities are essential to embedding the science learned every day!

Finally children build a game to review all of the exciting science of the past week. It’s a race to reach the Pharaoh’s treasure as you explore an ancient tomb, dodging traps, deciphering clues, and answering questions.
