PHYSICS MYSTERY – 5 hour program, sets of 5, $30/student
There are a lot of curious and confusing things happening around the Champions Science Adventures® lab lately. Gizabelle and her Uncle Gizmo are in charge of the lab and send the children a series of mysterious events, crazy chemical reactions, and interesting solutions for the children to investigate. The children use their science skills to explore and explain the science that make these wild and wacky things happen!
Mystery Ooze – To solve the problems and answer the questions of the physics mysteries, children learn and use the common guidelines known as the scientific method. They investigate and observe the mystery ooze using their senses, before making a batch of their own mystery ooze to take home!
Mystery Magnets – Children discover that magnetism is the mystery behind the floating paperclip. They learn about magnetism and its properties through a series of experiments. They then build their own K’Nex floating paperclip model where the paperclip appears to mysteriously float in the air!
Mystery Sand – The children are challenged to unlock the science that explains one of the most confusing physics mysteries in club, Magic Sand. Children explore the science of hydrophilic (water loving) and hydrophobic (water hating) chemicals as they experiment with the amazing Magic Sand; the sand that never get's wet. They then build underwater sand sculptures that come out of the water as dry as they go into the water!
Mystery Cup – Students will experiment with Sodium Polyacrylate, a super absorbing polymer capable of absorbing over 800 times its own weight in water, in order to discover the science behind a magic trick and understand the basic structure of polymers and polymer chains!
Mystery Bubbles – The children uncover the mystery behind how unpoppable bubbles work. They conduct experiments and use several different activities to explore the bubbles' properties. The children take the science home with an amazing bubble recipe and a tube of Touchabubbles to show their friends and family!
