National AfterSchool Association (NAA) Elects Shelley Bromberek Lambert
to the National Board of Directors

In a nationwide election, the National AfterSchool Association today announced that Shelley Bromberek Lambert, Vice President of Operations for Champions, a division of Knowledge Universe®, has been appointed to its 12-person board of directors.  Dr. Paul G. Young, NAA’s President and CEO, announced the results from the Association’s headquarters.  Lambert officially begins her three-year-term as a member of the Board during its summer meeting in Washington, DC later in June.

OCPS has a reputation for providing every child with a quality education and works hard to bridge learning gaps using
a variety of techniques. In 2008, OCPS issued a request for proposal. The district was looking for vendors to provide
extended student care and education services on school campuses before and after school. OCPS wanted programs to be safe, offer developmentally appropriate learning environments and meet the highest quality standards. Programs that offered quality enrichment and academic intervention components were a top priority. Providers selected also needed to be capable of servicing an extremely large district and be able to co-exist with other vendors and self-operated programs.

Today, Champions® Science Adventures® announced the availability of its newest science education program: the Virtual Science Club, an interactive web-based program which focuses on the exciting world of science. The club allows students in grades 3-7 to experiment in a virtual laboratory with “Gizmo the Gecko,” complete interactive activities, solve clues and puzzles and get introduced to valuable science concepts. The flexible program is designed so students can participate in the club at home, at school or anywhere they have access to a computer and the Internet.
