Blast off a Custom Hydro Rocket!

summer science camp

Here are some the adventures your child will experience during the morning session:

Every rocket is made from many parts, each performing a special function to ensure success. The children inspect the parts of their custom designed Hydro Rocket kit, begin construction and explore Newton‛s Laws with a rocket racer.

The Hydro Rocket flies at over 70 miles per hour. How do we keep it going straight? The children investigate how fins stabilize a rocket with a small air rocket.

What goes up, must come down! How do we keep our rocket from crashing? The children explore air resistance and experiment with parachutes.

Children build their own space station and discuss how you would colonize outer space. They grow ghost crystals in a hydroponic greenhouse.

The four worlds of our solar system closest to the Sun are small, rocky places. The children learn about these nearby planets and construct the first half of their solar system model. Beyond the asteroids lie four gas giants and icy worlds. The children add these planets to their solar system model and discover this dark and distant realm.

It‛s time for liftoff! On launch day, the children put their rocket knowledge to the test and attempt to launch their Hydro Rocket. Children build an altimeter to determine how high their rocket goes!

Then children can make changes to their rocket to see if they can increase the height of blast-off. They can blast off their rockets as many times as they want!

Here are some the adventures your child will experience during the afternoon session:

The moon is an amazing world orbiting our planet. The children learn about this amazing planet and design a motorized rover able to survive on its surface.

The children complete the finishing touches on their rover and carefully plan a trip. What discoveries might a robot make as it drives slowly across the frozen desert plains of the moon?

How do craters form on the surface of the moon?

Children create their own model of how the moon orbits around the earth with their Moon Mobile!

Each day ends with an exciting game that reinforces scientific concepts and promotes teambuilding. These activities are essential to embedding the science learned every day!

This week has been out of this world! After the launch, they challenge each other to a planetary pursuit to review the science learned all through the week.
