Science Club Topic: Wildlife Safari
Are you ready to go wild? Grab your gear— we’re going on a Wildlife Safari! Join us for a journey into the heart of the animal kingdom as we dissect an owl pellet, make a crocodile, and discover the life cycle of a frog. Embark on an animal adventure and uncover what makes each group of vertebrates wild!

Owl Pellets – An owl is an amazing animal that flies on silent feathered wings across the nighttime sky. The children will learn about ecology and the interdependence of living things as they dissect an owl pellet. After the dissection, they will identify and try to reconstruct a complete skeleton from the bones.

A Frog’s Life – The children are introduced to amphibians as they discover the life cycle of a frog. A snack of tapioca pudding and a grape will demonstrate the difference between amphibian and reptile eggs. As the children play a tongue-flipping-frog game, they will learn about the way some frogs use their tongue to catch insects.

Never Smile At A Crocodile – One of the most ancient families of reptiles is the crocodilians, which include alligators, crocodiles, and gharials. The children are introduced to the different types of crocodilians as they make their own model crocodile and learn about the fascinating world of these toothy creatures.

Fish Facts – From gills to swim bladders and fins to scales, this lesson unveils the amazing adaptations of fish that inhabit the depths of the ocean. The children will discover the external and internal anatomy of a fish and take home a model aquarium of growing fish.

Magnificent Mammals – The children are introduced to the group of vertebrates to which they belong—the mammals! They then construct a mammal diorama that shows the extreme diversity of mammals. Whether they are in sea, land, or air, there is no place a mammal can't be.
