Champions offers a variety of group and individual activities designed to keep your child exploring and growing.

From art, dramatic play, math and science to problem-solving, language, motor skills and more, we help your child continue learning and developing essential life skills – whether school is in session or not.

Champions provides busy, working families like yours the flexibility to extend the learning day before and after school for school-age children ages 5 to 12 years. With a balance of child-initiated and teacher-led activities, our programs serve your child’s wide variety of interests and skills by giving them choice.

Our program for early learners ages 3 to 5 years was created to provide a safe, fun, and enriching location for preschool-age children during out-of-school time hours. Children enrolled in this program attend the full-day preschool or kindergarten program offered by their school district, then come to Champions before and after the regular school day. With our age-appropriate activities, your child will strengthen skills in art, dramatic play, math and science, problem-solving, language, motor skills and more.

If you are currently enrolled in the Champions after school program and need to apply for Subsidized Child Care Voucher (discount) you can now apply in person at one of two locations: 1) South Capitol Street Service Center (Walk-in Service), 4001 South Capitol St SW, (202) 645-0420 or 2) Taylor St Service Center (by Appointment ONLY), 1207 Taylor St SW, (202) 704-2345. Please ensure that you have all your documentation prior to going. New families are able to apply 30 days prior to the start of school. Necessary documents: Verification of employment (3 most recent pay stubs); government-issued photo ID; birth certificate for each child (full-size only); verification of other income (i.e. SSI, Social Security benefits, TANF, child support, child support documentation, etc.); Social Security card for self, spouse and children; verification of address; and updated health certificate.

How soon can my child start Champions?

Your child can attend our program as early as 48 hours after you complete the online enrollment process.

When is tuition due?

Tuition is charged weekly on Thursday mornings for the following week, and is due by Friday. Payments can be made with a debit or credit card through your online account. We offer autopay for your convenience, so you can store your payment account and it will be charged weekly.

What if my child’s schedule changes?

Please make any schedule changes by Wednesday for the following week. Tuition is based on the schedule you have chosen in the system.

What if there are school closures or changes in scheduling?

During inclement weather conditions, it may be necessary to delay and/or close schools and childcare sites entirely. Champions will follow the delay schedule set by the school district. If school is cancelled, Champions will be cancelled. Please be sure to check with your local Champions contact to find out how scheduling is handled in the event of either an early release or late start, and always call ahead if you are unsure whether Champions will be in operation for these types of days.

When do I need to pick up my child?

Please be available to pick up your child before or as near the program end time as possible. To avoid late fees, arrive to collect your child within 15 minutes after the listed time. Fees will apply for extended tardiness as follows; $10.00 for the first 16-30min, and an additional $10 each 15min following that.

Will I be able to change my student’s schedule week to week?

Yes, you will be able to change your student’s schedule as needed. Please let us know of any schedule changes for you student by Wednesday of the week before. There are two ways to change your student’s schedule: 1. Standard Schedule – This is the weekly recurring schedule. Changes to the standard schedule will wipe out any changes made using the custom schedule feature. 2. Custom Schedule – Allows you to choose individual days week by week using a monthly calendar format. We recommend that you schedule no more than a month out at a time.

When is tuition due?

Tuition is due the Friday before the week of care. If payment is not made before close of business on Wednesday, you will incur a $10 late payment fee.

Do I need to change my schedule for a holiday or our family vacation?

Yes. Champions tuition is charged based on schedule and not attendance. You will need to use our Custom Schedule feature to change your schedule for a holiday or vacation week to avoid additional charges. The only exception is weeks where the site is closed for the entire week (such as Winter or Spring Break). These weeks are set up as non-billing weeks and no action is required on your part.

What method of payment is accepted online?

We accept electronic withdrawals from your checking/savings account, debit cards and Discover, Visa, and MasterCard credit cards or prepaid debit cards.

Can I set up recurring payments or store a payment account?

Recurring payments is a convenient, preferred feature. Your tuition can be automatically paid with your checking or savings account, debit card, or credit card account. If you set up recurring payments online, the transaction will be automatically processed from the account that you’ve selected on the date you’ve selected. As the primary sponsor, the total amount due will be taken from your account; If you have set up an additional (secondary) sponsor, their account will be charged first. Each Friday the secondary sponsor’s account will be charged the flat dollar amount they chose. The balance due will then be charged to the primary sponsor’s account on Monday. This will continue to occur until your recurring date range ends or you disable or delete the recurring payment. You will receive a receipt through e-mail each time a transaction is made.

I qualify for child care assistance with the state or county. How do I submit this information?

Please fax your authorization letter from the state or county indicating the amount of your copay to our Subsidy group at (503) 872-1445. Also hand in the original at the program.
